Endcapped C18 Helps Researchers Achieve Excellent Analyte Sensitivity and Recovery for 131 Drug Residues in Bovine Muscle

The article, titled “Validation of a streamlined multiclass, multiresidue method for determination of veterinary drug residues in bovine muscle by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry” (DOI: 10.1007/s00216-014-8386-3) uses a d-SPE technique for the extraction of 131 veterinary drug residues in bovine muscle samples.

The extraction sorbent used was a UCT endcapped C18. In the article the authors stress the increasing importance of multiclass, multiresidue methods in regulatory monitoring programs due to their increased analytical scope and laboratory efficiency.

The validated method provided excellent sensitivity for drug compounds from 13 different classes and resulted in analyte recoveries ranging from 70-120%.  UCT’s sorbent plays a key role in cleaning up the tissue extracts while still providing excellent analyte recoveries.
