The
UCT Specialties product line (formerly Petrarch®) is comprised of specialty silanes, silicones
and platinum catalysts. Applications for Petrarch® products exist
in almost every industry. Silanes are commonly used as monomers, cross
linkers or modifiers for polymers. Additionally, they are used to
coat glass, plastics and metals providing specific surface characteristics
or a point of attachment for biologically active molecules. Because
silicones are oxygen-permeable, flexible and have inert properties
they are used in numerous medical devices. Industrial silicone applications
are typically coupling agents for bonding elastomers to polar substrates,
adhesive systems and silicone lubricants. Platinum catalysts are used
in two part silicone compositions utilized in dental impression compounds,
prototyping molding, sealants and electronic coatings.
